What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a system of medicine developed in the late 18th century by Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician. It is founded on the principle of "like cures like", the idea that a substance capable of producing symptoms in a healthy person, when specially prepared in very small doses, can stimulate the body's own healing response in someone experiencing those same symptoms.
Homeopathic remedies are created through a process of repeated dilution and vigorous shaking, known as potentization, which releases the remedy's therapeutic properties while removing toxicity of the source material.
Homeopathic medicines are prepared by specialized pharmacies according to the standards of the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (HPUS), and are regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
